The story so far

It started with one simple idea.

Raleigh, born and raised

Back in 2013, we set out to challenge Raleigh's reputation for being “boring” by sharing things to do each week on the local subreddit. What started as a simple post grew into one of the city's most loved weekly events newsletters.

More than a decade later, we're still doing what we started: helping people discover the music, food, art, culture, and experiences that make the Triangle worth exploring.

Built by a Raleigh native with a passion for connecting people to their city, ThingsToDo919 has always been about more than filling a weekend calendar. It's about getting out, trying something new, and finding your people.

To everyone who's read, shared, recommended an event, or told a friend: thank you. You're the reason we're still here.

Let's make one thing clear

The free newsletter is here to stay.

We're not putting the weekend list behind a paywall. Everyone will continue to get the free newsletter. A paid Rally membership is simply an optional way to support the work that goes into it—and get a little more out of your week.

Why The Rally?

Great events are the starting point. Connection is the goal.

We're building toward a community that doesn't just know what's happening—it shows up, explores together, supports local culture, and makes Raleigh feel a little smaller in the best way.

Beyond the inbox

The next chapter is about showing up together.

We love finding the best things happening around town. But our bigger ambition is to help people actually experience them—and each other.

With community support, we hope to explore future meetups, collaborations with local businesses, special experiences, and opportunities to bring readers together in real life.

We're starting with what we do best: great newsletters. The rest is something we'll build thoughtfully, together.

ON THE HORIZON · NOT YET INCLUDED

More reasons to get together.

Local gatherings. Shared experiences. New partnerships. Maybe a few surprises along the way.

We're not selling promises before they're ready. As new benefits take shape, we'll tell you exactly what's available and how to participate.

Good to know

Questions? We've got you.

Is the regular newsletter still free?

Yes. The free weekly weekend newsletter will continue. You do not need a paid membership to receive it.

What's included in Get It Early?

You'll receive the weekend events newsletter before it goes out to free subscribers, while helping support the ongoing work behind the list. The specific delivery timing will be confirmed before launch.

What's different about the second tier?

It includes two separate emails: a weekday events roundup and the early weekend events newsletter. Both tiers support the same free community newsletter.

Are community events and VIP perks included now?

Not yet. Building community experiences is part of our longer-term vision. We'll announce specific opportunities only when they're ready.

Where is membership managed?

Paid memberships are managed through Patreon. You can manage your membership through your Patreon account under its applicable terms.
